If you want a short action 6.5mm for your described use, either the 6.5x47L or 6.5 Creedmoor would be high on my list. That said, my choice would be a 7mm-08 because the bullets are a little bigger and a little sleeker.

This is spot on, I love the 708 and loaded right it will smoke the 6.5 CM

Could always go buy a Lazzaroni Tomahawk. They don't cost much if you say it real fast. http://www.lazzeroni.com/ct_sacart.htm

My custom 338WSM is a knock-off of the Lazzaroni Galaxy but with a bit more velocity and case capacity. 404 Jeffery cases shortened with a tiny bit longer neck than the 338/300WSM SAMI spec. Forming my brass is a biatch but I can use 300WSM in a pinch.

OR-----------how about one of the Nosler 26,28 or 30 short magnums. Er body is in the fat game now days. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nosler...ary_cartridges

Opps not short action. Used standard length 30.06 action

I personally love Short/ everything Kin to 308 win.only thing I got that aint kin is 223 rem...and wifes 250 Savage and she aint selling..The pros:wide window of factory calibers 243 to 358./shorter action mean shorter total length/less slop when bolt open/lighter due to less length./seem to feed better through action..And there a reloaders dream cause brass is everywhere that you can form up or down /and there is lots of documentation say it more accurate due to length...I can't say tru or false on that...cause i aint a perfect shot....just my 2c

No it isn’t. Look at Roberts post proving otherwise.

Not much love for the .308 in this thread. I shoot suppressed in all my hunting rifles and my next bolt rifle will be a .308. Plenty of commercially available rounds including sub-sonics. Most of my stand hunting is done with a .308 Ar but I like the idea of quietly chambering a sub when pigs show up so a bolt gun is in order. I shoot pigs every time I see them but hate to ruin a deer hunt over them. If I need more distance I will grab my .300wm (also suppressed).

But I do like the 6.5CM and will probably get one eventually.

If you're killing deer sized critters out to 500 yards , I would go with an AR chambered in 6.5 grendel .

No bolt to hit your nose and Easy to build one that will shoot moa

Suppressed Supersonics will not spook deer. I have shot deer and had the rest of the herd return to the feeder for the next 2 hours.

That is not my experience. I've been hunting entirely suppressed for the past 4 or 5 seasons. Suppressed supers have always spooked deer and hogs that are at or near the feeders. They don't always know which way to run, but they are always spooked.

Sometimes some of the deer come back in to eat after the shot, but that's the same whether suppressed or not. A suppressed super is loud enough to disturb them, even if it's much quieter than unsuppressed.

260 gets my vote but since you arent a reloader and dont look like you will be anytime soon go with the 6.5 Creed. It fills your 6.5 desire with quality factory available ammo and will do anything you ask of it with time and practice. After all its all about shot placement right?

Don't know what I could say that hasn't already been said, but you can't go wrong with anything from a 243Win to a 308Win and anything in between.

Go with an AI if you can
