There is nilgai on both properties I hunt and there are some STUDS on them, I already made up my mind when one comes out I’m putting the bullet right where his heads meets his neck. Should drop him like a rock whether it be with my 30-06, 270 or 7mm-08 if I get one built.

Nilgai are TOUGH and hard to find if they don't drop

Right now I’m just trying to figure out a caliber, not necessarily planning a build yet, although I’ve got some things running through my mind. But to answer your question I’d like to say 2000-2500 without glass, definitely will be my most expensive rifle to date.

Short action calibers
Another 260 fan here for many years. Currently own 3 of them and don’t see anything they give up to the Creed or the 7-08.
That being said, my next build will be a 6.5x47 Lapua. It’s been winning matches for a long time for a reason.

Then I’ve thought of a 6.5 creed but I read that it’s a barrel burner. If you guys don’t mind if you can post up what short action rifle you have and how you like it as a Texas Deer blind rifle. Shots will be anywhere from 100-500 yards 99% if the time. Thanks I’m advance!

The 6.5X47 Lapua and the 6.5 Creedmore are two of the calibers I am considering for my Remington 700. I was going to do a 270 AR, may still do so, it's based off of the 6.5X47 lapua case. But then I found out how few barrel or bullet options there is for .277 caliber and how many there are for the 6.5mm and decided it would likely be better to just chamber the rifle for the 6.5x47 Lapua. That should be a nice little round. But then the Creedmoor, should be a bit more than the Lapua.

The few people I know that shoot the 6.5X47 love it. What they keep talking about are the consistency with single digit extreme spreads and accuracy. Of course I hope they are getting good accuracy with the custom rifles they are shooting it in. I doubt factory ammo holds up to carefully put together handloads weighed to .02 grains or basically to the kernel of powder. Prometheus powder measure helps get those powder drops that accurate

What’s the build on your 6.5x47 L look like? I’m intrigued by this cartridge but don’t reload so that’s sort of a “problem” for me.
