I bought 3 boxes recently for my Ruger American 308. Winchester Texas Edition, Core Lokt, and some cheap Monarch. I ranked them Winchester, Monarch and Core-Lokt last for grouping. I'm going to try some Federal Fusion this weekend.

Starting to sound like a consistency issue. I've shot a lot of core-lokts in my Model 700 30-06 and had good luck.

      ^^This^^

I've never had great luck with core-lokt in terms of accuracy. But the bullets do provide some really good terminal performance.

one thing that I`ve done since I quit reloading is when I find what ammo my gun likes and groups well then I go and buy as many boxes of the same production lot number (stamped on the inside of the box ) that way I know they were gonna be the same performance.

I would give Federal Fusions in the same weight a try if available...I have had great luck with them & they are a good price point & performance is great.

The Fusions come in 120 gr. but i can't find it in 140. Another option in the price point is the Hornady Superformance SST in 129 gr. Still not 140 but a little more than the 120. I've had good luck with the SST's in my 7mm-08 but not everyone is a fan.

core-lokt ammo hasn't been the same for a number of years now. It is my understanding that many of the bullets have been sourced to a variety of manufacturers over the years and are not made completely in house by big green. Think lowest bidder and ever changing equipment. Blake's point is true too, Rem as well as most big manufacturers use "blends" of powders available at the time of production to meet velocity and pressure specs. Lot to lot consistency does suffer accordingly.

As bad as those tips look, they are having the smallest effect on the poor accuracy you are seeing. Your pic reveals one of the bigger issues - look at the cannelures on the bullets you are holding in your hand - you can clearly see seating depths are ALL OVER the place. Strangely enough, I've seen more than a few rifles that love the crap.

My 260 likes Federal Premium 120 gr Ballistic tips and 140 gr Sierra Gamekings. Shoots both under an inch and the Gamekings are 3 holes touching....

I've been shooting the 100gr. out of my 25.06 the last few years. Super accurate and cheap. It's been dropping deer.

I DID find this in a box... little concerning! But I still have 3-4 boxes left which will last me several more years. I guess I'll shop around if I hear bad things when it's time to buy some more.

Razrbk, that is more then a little bothersome. I hate to read so many posts about the corelokt. As is the situation with several of you, I have shot that round since I was big enough to pull a trigger. I usually shoot it in my .270 now when it gets out of the safe (does not happen very much). May be time to look at other brands... :-(

Same here. Has always been my old go to. But, I have also had good luck with the Federal Fusion and they are also easy to find.

That was one of the first things I noticed although some of those tips could affect accuracy. The Box O Truth did a test on damaged tips, https://www.theboxotruth.com/the-box...e-box-o-truth/.

It could be just the angle difference between the two pics, but the bullets don't even look the same, the oglive on the new bullets looks sharper. Manufacturers will change their design and call it the same thing, I was really disappointed with Winchester when they did this to their 40gr 22 mag ammo. Looks like it's time to start reloading.

Exactly. All our rifles love them

I like my Remington rifles, but gave up on corelock ammo years ago.
