Any specific caliber? I reload but pretty much for only 308 now. It's really not that hard

7mm-08. I actually got a PM from a member here who offered to show me the ropes so this may be something I wind up getting in to here soon.

I had issues with the 270 130 gr Rem core-loks years ago and stopped using them. I shot several deer that walked off like they weren't touched. I did find them but due to lack of impact reaction and almost no blood trail it seemed they had little to no expansion. I switch to Winchester ballistic tips and cured that issue immediately. All deer shot after were DRT!

X2 I have a 30.06 that loved 150 grain Corelokt, but after having a bad box of them I switched to Federal Fusion and they were much better.

Had good luck with the 130 ELD and 129 SST in a stock Rem 700. Check out Prime ammo as well.

For the last 35 years I've shot nothing but corelokt in every gun I own. Last couple of years they have gone to total crap!!! I now buy Winchester power points with no issues.

Just depends on what bow you pull off the shelf. Some are better than others.

Haven't tried Fusion or SST yet but, so far, Federal Vital-shok is the winner. Rem 120 grain Accutip didn't look very good either. Crazy...core lokt actually used to shoot well out of that rifle.

There you go, it doesn't take sub 1" groups to kill deer, but it sure helps your confidence to know the bullet is going real close to where the crosshairs are. Doesn't take super bullets either, cup and core bullets work fine in most calibers.

Glad you found a box that grouped. My only concern with the federal ammo has been how much residue it left in my barrel after shooting a few rounds. The core-lokt was always cleaner. The game may have changed, and thank you for this thread.

I've only had luck with Core Lokt in 50 grain PSP in 22-250 and that was just two boxed out of my 700 VLS. I'm a Hornady or Norma guy all the way. My dad loved core lokt over everything but now I believe he is seeing it isn't what it used to be.
