When you get up to quality glass, you done need such high power. I shot to 1800 yards on 18x easily. None of us had more than 20xexcept a buddy using anS&B. BUT, If a guy wants a big one then awesome. The 4-24 is a 34mm tube vs a 30mm on the 3-18. I can't comment on the vx6hd yet. Haven't even seen one. But they are priced along with some very good optics. As maxlab posted, there are good deals to be had on them now. I always look at used too.

I love the vx-6hd line up, not to mention Leupolds Warranty, should you ever need it. Its really awesome glass in my opinion. I know you want 20+ magnification, but there is a give and take with everything. I personally think that when you are at or over 20X it takes some really good glass to bring in the light and have good clarity, that is where scopes start getting into the $2500-3000 range.
In my personal opinion, what you get out of HD glass outweighs an extra couple power in magnification.

Have you given any thought to Sightron Scopes?
