but i'm gonna stick to the hmr .. easy to find ammo , accurate , savage rifles are great with accutrigger and cheap .. got mine factory threaded , fluted and with a scope for $299 and a rebate to boot .. i think another 30 or 40 bucks ...

can't beat that with a stick!

Honestly I don't think it's gonna take over the HMR in popularity. I've shot one. It's a little screamer. But the only one I've seen owned by someone is the one I shot and that was a Gun Shop owner in Ohio. It's way above the HMR in speed but it's already been out a couple years. The HMR was out a couple years and they were being sold left and right. Beautiful thing about the HMR was during the Obama ammo shortage I could still find HMR ammo. I'm up to 1800 rounds now so I think I can stop buying now lol.

    That's mine.

            Performance is two separate things:

            1. You are TARGET shooting and HAVE to get consistent small groups at different ranges.
            2. You are wanting DRT with 1 shot? (Dead Right There)

Obviously calibers have their limitations but the 17 does make a DRT, 223 DRT, 22-250 DRT, 6.5 CM & Grendel DRT and on and on and on.

Nice shooting and interesting OP...It's almost the same logic as shooting a handgun for self defense...I don't give a hoot if I can shoot 50 yards, or as some claim 100+? All I want is a DRT every time!
