thank you all for the advice. i appreciate it.

My thoughts, for price, was to try and pick the AP lower up for $80, and then pick up a carbine upper build kit from PSA. That would give me a complete upper and a lower build kit.

    Lower would be $80,
Complete upper and build kit from PSA $450
So if i am correct and that is all i need, i would have one for around $530.
    seem right?

PSA had kits that had complete uppers with lower parts kits. Not sure what triggers they had.

Just looking to build a cheap reliable 223 ar.

PSA carbine kit should be a lot cheaper than that. I think they usually run sales fairly often with them at around $350. That is everything but the stripped lower. You can get their enhanced trigger group for just $30 and it is a pretty good improvement over their standard trigger for a lot less than a full drop in custom trigger.
Edit--I just looked and those are both "deals of the day"

thank you for the links and comments.

Do you think there would be an issue mixing a Aero Precision lower with an all PSA upper? seems that will get me the lowest price unit, and people seem to like PSA. I dont really know, i am new to this.

It will not be a problem. As long as everything is mill spec you can mix and match… That is the fun in an AR. The enhanced trigger group I posted a link to is not a necessity at all either. That kit will come with a lower parts kit that will have a trigger. The enhanced one is just smoother and has great reviews for only $30. I worried about it all before I built my first one. I watched a lot of YouTube videos that made assembling the lower fairly straightforward.

But my next question is, if i can get it cheaper, do i have to pair it with an AP upper? Or could i pick up a PSA package to finish it off?

My goal is to build a cheaper AR than I can buy one of the Sporticals at Academy. Main use is rapid fire pig assassin. not competition or looks.

You can match pretty much any upper to any lower. The finish may be different between the two but it won't affect function.

It will match up just the same as a PSA lower not only are they both MIL spec but AP makes the lowers for PSA.
