Believe it or not, it doesn't tear up that much meat. I've taken high shoulder shots, behind the shoulder shots, frontal shots, and everything has dropped. I wish I had taken a pic of the deer I killed this past weekend with the 7mm SAUM to show you.

I've used the expanding bullets like Nosler BT, Hornady SST and those things turn a deer into jello. Shoulders included.
NBT and SST work well on lower velocities.....where the bonded.copper bullets fail.

know your gun......know your performance window.

My buddy shot a deer last weekend with his .308 and only got a quarter sized exit hole. Deer dropped in his tracks so the bullet still did it's job. I just expected more out of a .308 sized bullet.
I've had the same quarter sized exit holes, zero blood, with regular lead soft point bullets from a .30-06 at 75 yards, right behind the shoulder. Deer jumped 10 yards into a pile of brush and was dead. Exit holes don't always tell the full story, weird stuff happens sometimes.

Not Bad. I shot 2 Does this weekend with my 223 and boy did it do damage. A lot of the meat was ruined but people sure underestimate these small calibers. One I shot at around 100 Yards on the shoulder and the other around 70. They didn't get far but would like to find a better bullet for the meat. I was shooting just 60 gr. Factory Hornady American Whitetail.

So True! We have harvested many a deer with the 22-250. My favorite for hogs is also the 5.56 green tip that penetrates and DRT as well. A heart/lung shot at least with our experience will do the job just fine. But, we are not taking the 200+ yard shots a lot post about. And no...these calibers do just fine without the "ear or neck shots" again...at least for us. No matter the caliber many times, it still depends on placement.

A high lung shot that misses a rib will leave the same size hole going in as going out and no blood trail. Took us four hours to find a buck shot that way a few years ago.

My experience with the bullet has been out of a .257 and a .270 Weatherby magnum.

Others may have different results, but out of about 8 deer killed with that bullet the two that didn't hit bone were pretty hard to find.

              We don't shoot it anymore.

Exactly and Amen. Same issues out of a 270 Win on a few whitetail doe and several black buck. No thank you. And FMJ's work on neck shots. No offense meant but it's true on necks.
