22-250 TSX Bullet Performance on Deer

22-250 Rem w/ Barnes 50 gr. TSX factory loads @ 3830 fps. 110 yards and beautiful bullet performance. DRT and very little bloodshot meat unlike the mess you get with varmint bullets.
    Top to bottom
    Tiny entrance hole
    Quarter size exit hole
    Sawed in half
Sweet looking CDL Limited 22-250 lol

Is that a neck shot? I assume you got a full pass through?

Personally I would like to see a little more damage. If the shot were a little off I would like to know it's still going to expand or release enough energy to get the job done. My buddy shot a deer last weekend with his .308 and only got a quarter sized exit hole. Deer dropped in his tracks so the bullet still did it's job. I just expected more out of a .308 sized bullet.

We killed a bunch of deer with this bullet in 7-08 and 270 and always saw exactly what you did on all of them except all but 1 or 2 ran at least 40 yards after the shot

My experience with the TSX bullets is that if you don't hit bone you'll have no expansion.

A high lung shot that misses a rib will leave the same size hole going in as going out and no blood trail. Took us four hours to find a buck shot that way a few years ago.

My experience with the bullet has been out of a .257 and a .270 Weatherby magnum.

Others may have different results, but out of about 8 deer killed with that bullet the two that didn't hit bone were pretty hard to find.

              We don't shoot it anymore.

                  GF uses the same...

bullet in her 22/250. She uses the Vortex ammo. I haven't started loading for her yet. DRT as well. I shoot them exclusively in my 257 Roberts (90 grain TSX) and my 7mm SAUM (140 grain TTSX). Always shoot for the shoulder and they go straight down. I've never had one take more than a step and most drop straight down. My favorite bullet for sure. I've killed I don't know how many whitetails, mule deer and pigs with that bullet.

                    X2.

It needs bone or velocity. On my grendel I have gone to 120gr NBT and they are perfect.

                    .308 win, .30-06 and .300 RUM 168gr Berger.

How much meat would it mess up shooting in shoulder?

It would mess up both front shoulders but your deer would be as mentioned...DRT.

                              How much money you got?

Believe it or not, it doesn't tear up that much meat. I've taken high shoulder shots, behind the shoulder shots, frontal shots, and everything has dropped. I wish I had taken a pic of the deer I killed this past weekend with the 7mm SAUM to show you.

I've used the expanding bullets like Nosler BT, Hornady SST and those things turn a deer into jello. Shoulders included.
