Anyone own, or did own a .240 Weatherby?

I'm looking at building me a small(ER) bore. I like the speeds on the 240. Anyone ever own one or have a suggestion to a comparable .244? No 243 Wins please. Completely uninterested. TIA. [emoji2]

We inherited one from my grandfather. I don't know if I've even shot it. But the ammo isn't cheap

Pretty sure Slick8 has a nice APR build that he hunts with extensively.

This is my APR Maverick with a #4 1:8 twist Douglas barrel in an Alaskan ti B&C stock. She's an early 70's action with a wyatts extended mag and trigger tuned by Neil Jones.

I'm loading H1000 with 115 Bergers at 3100 fps and it's devastating on deer. I routinely shoot .2-.3moa out to 300 and .5 out to 600. I consider it a solid .5 gun or better any given day.

As RMV said, she's my go to iron most days and being that I'm currently between big 7's she's my primary.

There's another on here running a custom 240 but can't remember who and Shane has one in a Mark V I believe.

It would be murder on your favorite black bucks....!

Here's 2 back to back groups just under an inch at 300 yards.

I have one. I had to find it first. Can't remember the last time I shot it. It is pretty though.

Do you reload and do you mind fireforming?

You can't fire form a 240 WBY too my knowledge. It's a proprietary belted WBY cartridge about the same size as an 06 case making it unique in the WBY stable.

Brass is relatively easy to find and not too hard on the wallet considering its premium Norma brass.

No you can't. But with a special made die you can swage a belt on a 25-06 or 30-06 and then fire form. I'd only do it if brass was totally unavailable. CH tool and die makes a die for this.

Interesting, learn something new every day. If I had to go through all that trouble I'd build a 6mm-06 or a 25-06 if I didn't reload.

Used to have one. It's was ok. I've got a little brass and some live rounds if anyone is interested.

No I'll just continue to use Superior Custom Ammunition.
