I like your build, it will make for a handy rig and that's a great cartridge selection...IMO.

I'd go with a 3-18x44 VX-6 Leupold and I really like the McM Hunter stock. It's basically a Mod 75 Sako which has a great feel on the bench and in the field.

Here's mine in a 22 inch 3B Bartlein suppressor ready which is a bit heavier than what you're looking at but you get the idea.

#4 shilen is too heavy for a true lightweight. Not a dang thing wrong with a shilen or timney and i have used them all.

Nothing wrong with them at all. But are they the best options?

The barrel is $100 or less extra. Trigger is about the same. Trigger should be either $60ish difference between the 510 and CE. And about $90-100 between the 510 and jewell HVR

I'm a HUGE fan of Bartlein 5R barrels so I'd lean that route in a barrel. I would ditch the fluting in favor of the better barrel unless you just want it for the looks. Not necessarily a fan of the 7-08 (personal preference) but 20" will be plenty and keep the barrel whip down on a light contour barrel.

As to the stock, I have 3 customs with a McM stock. They have been progressively getting worse on their finishes. If it were me, I'd pick a Manners stock and go that route with a carbon fill to save weight.

I'm also a huge fan of Jewell triggers so that's what I would (and have) in all my R700s.

Way overkill on the optics. I have that scope and am considering downsizing. Leupold VX6 2-12 or maybe 3-18. But for super light weight I'd go with a Swarovski Z3 4-12x50. You should be able to break even selling the Zeiss and buying the Swarovski. Mount in Talley 1 piece light weight rings/base.

Realistically, check prices on Red's, EuroOptic and Cameraland NY. That's who you will have to compete with per sé.

Other than the trigger, which I would swap for a Jewell, roll with it. I wouldn't worry about the weight on the scope personally, but since you indicated you wanted light-weight, it likely should go. Fluting takes away several ounces, and looks cool, but the money could be better spent elsewhere.

                    Only thing I'd change is your optic... I'd put a 2-12 x 42mm VX-6 on it.

Thinking out loud here .... Accessories Weight

                      Stock - 1 # 8 ozs
                      Action - 2# 4 ozs
                      Barrel - 3 # 9 ozs (non-fluted)

                      Roughly 7.5 lbs bare rifle

Zeiss Scope - 18.4 ozs; shade over 1 lb. 2 ozs

Final rifle carry weight , loaded with ammo should be 8 3/4 lbs

We are talking about a hunting rifle here. Is a remington the "BEST" option? You didnt say anything about that....

If the smith works it's over properly then it can be a hammer as well. I've had several customs built on 700s that'll hand with my stiller or defiance. But I didn't figure he wanted to swap an entire action. The 2 changes I suggested are inexpensive and you get a good bit of improvement.

How do you know you get a "good bit" of improvement? A shilen has the potential to be as accurate as any other barrel, and a 1.5# timney 512 is just as good as a
1.5# timney CE. The jewell is a better trigger but its not going to make a difference on a hunting build. My match rifles often wear old style remington factory triggers that i have honed and resprung and they are really good for that application or a hunting rifle.
