Savage Model 11 Long Range Hunter

I have an opportunity to get a good deal on this Savage 11 in 6.5 Creedmoor. I've had a Remington 700 for over 20 yrs and have never shot a savage. Does anyone on the green screen have experience with the model 11 or solid insight? I'd certainly appreciate any advice. Functions for the rifle would be whitetail hunting in Rocksprings area (pretty open territory). Starter rifle into long range target shooting past 500yds. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I've shot the Remmy most of my life, Savage rifles are starting to take their place.

For out of the box performance, Savage is hard to beat. You will not be disappointed.

Model 10 FCP-K, the rifle sits as it came from the factory.

I'm into this rifle for around $2k and it keeps up with my custom rigs costing 3X-4X as much $$$.

Good platform to build. No real problems with them and Savage is known to make great barrels at that price point.

There great rifles. Very accurate right out of the box. I don't prefer them over others mainly due to aesthetics and the fact I like to tinker on them. Sure you can swap barrels in the garage, but try to buy an aftermarket stock, bottom metal etc. They have made small changes to the design so many times that getting the right aftermarket parts can be a challenge. Not so with the Remington.

If you're used to shooting factory R700 triggers you'll probably like the accutrigger. If you are used to shooting a premium trigger like a Timney or Jewell you will hate it.

And ditto what Luke said above.

YUP, unless you're used to the old style 700 trigger, before that x-mark junk. I which case, you'll probably still dislike the Accutrigger.

Yes sir i do have the old style rem trigger . I need to get it fine tuned a little. It's still too heavy. I want it about 3 -3.5lbs and I'm sure i can get it there. just need to tinker with it some more. I have an old Adl with a beautiful monte carlo stock. It's free floated and glass and pillar bedded. It shoots good.. I'm the one that needs to sharpen up. I'm going to say it's .75 moa now that i found ammo it likes and i shoot a bit better off the new bipod than bags. I'm going to keep shooting this rifle till i meet the goals i set earlier this year for it. I saw a deal on this savage and it's the rifle i wanna move on to for more distance and when i saw the deal, i went ahead and jumped on it. You guys are awesome..thanks for all the advice!
