Did open carry backfire?

It appears that many companies that allowed concealed carry (no 30.06 signs) are now posting the 30.06 and 30.07. Wondering if open carry was a mistake or once businesses see there is not much to be concerned about will they take signs down?

I think that if I was a business owner (depending on type of business), and having this first come out, I would put up the open carry sign as well. I would be fine with concealed, but that's just my preference.

obviously open carrying in a gun store is different than HEB. by different I mean that your in a place selling guns, its not unusual. But momma going to the store and seeng billy bob carrying could be offsetting.

Mainly I think they are just trying to not decrease business, and honestly is it that big of a deal to carry concealed vs open at certain places?

Not in my opinion. Just bringing out the true colors of a business if they're posting 30.06 signs to accompany the 30.07. 30.07 by itself is one thing. I understand. 30.06 on top of that just tells me they won't allow me to protect myself in their establishment. Therefore I don't patronize their place.

Same here in North DFW as well. I don't go into town much though.

Went out with mine on my side the other day. Shirt and jacket covered all but about an inch of the barrel. Guy inline at the corner store asked if it was a 40. I showed him and he said yea he likes it. Recognized the make and model. Talked about guns for a second. I paid. Said bye and left. No problems.

I don't think so. I believe it is just typical knee jerk reaction.

Especially the businesses that are now posting 30.06 when they haven't in the past 20 years that CC has been legal.
