Well I might ad as a previous professional lease manager and guide running about a 100 hunters a year, I can't tell you how many hunters I saw un case their super duper deer slaying magnum and watch them shoot.,... Lol most couldn't handle the recoil....I wish I had a dollar for every deer I helped them look for too.

There is something to be said for larger rounds/casings. They certainly have their place. Personally I believe bullet quality plays a big roll with tougher animals. Clearly more powerful rounds lend themselves to making up for poor accuracy. It is, and always will be, about shot placement.
I own a 30-06, and a 270 (love my .270), and several others smaller. My .223 is my go-to gun. Though, I did recently have fantastic/ devastating results from my .357mag carbine.
Except for those hunting huge or dangerous game, I will never understand needing to wear hearing protection because you needed to install a brake to tame your cannon.
Like mentioned above, I throughly enjoy hunting with my bow.

after the 2nd tear in the rotator cuff I couldn’t deal with a .270 on days I’m shooting a lot. Went to buy a 7-08 and didn’t have that but got a 6.5creedmoor and I’m not going back.
It had amazing ballistics, rated out to beyond what I will ever shoot it and it is such a mild kick that I can enjoy it at the range all day

I simply stated that my 30-06 got close to 300wm performance. Did not say hand loads to hand loads. Most people are happy with 300wm off the shelf performance that why people by factory ammo. And for me I have no need for the extra magnum recoil noise and blast when I can achieve it out of a non magnum catrige. There for the 300wm sits in the safe. Now if I did not hand load and did not have the 30-06 that I do then yes maybe still use the magnum. It can also do 2930-2950 with hornady superformance 180sst and does it in about 3/4".
