Load some slugs in a 12 gauge... that'll sit you down pretty quick, definitely kicks harder than any deer rifle ive ever shot

Heck at 56 my 300 Wby beats me up if I fire it too much. Can't imagine a six year old shooting one.

The gun I was using kept misfiring so dad asked if I wanted to try and shoot the deer with his .300... Needless to say I missed the deer and got put on my butt lol

My dad traded for a .300 Winchester Mag about 25 years ago. We took it to the range and it kicked way worse than any gun he, or I, had ever shot. Dad was trying to zero it in and he put a sand bag between the rifle and his shoulder. Before he shot a dozen rounds, the stock split! We figured out why the guy wanted to get rid of it. Dad saw him about a year later and he admitted he couldn't shoot it, it kicked way too hard.

Tossup between 12ga/slugs or a Marlin 45-70 with 2100fps 405gr ammo, both off a bench. Just a couple of rounds of either one would leave you with a day-long headache. Not fun. No bueno at all.

Winchester Model 70A, in the late 60s, 300 WM. That thing left purple bruises on my shoulder. I was using a max handload, I recall 74.2 grains of 4350. Every time I shot it at the range (Abilene gun club range, out by Phantom Lake), the other shooters would pack up and leave. The muzzle blast would flatten the weeds in front of the firing line. I ended up fabricating a shoulder pad about 3" thick so I could tolerate it, but finally I just had to let it go; it just wasn't fun any more.

By the way.... I never shot one, but I hear the 444 Marlin will kick the snot out of you.

It's easy ton expect the big bore rifles to knock the fire out of you, you kind of expect it. But I inherited an old Remington 12ga Model 31 pump shotgun from my grandfather that knocked the **** out of me. Metal but plate.
