You will ever catch me in the stand without them dialed to 200 because that gets me a dead hold unless way out there which means I need time to range and adjust anyway
Yeah, that's my plan. Problem (in my mind anyway) is ask the stands on this new lease are set up nearly close enough to be bow stands, but they are most definitely rifle stands. The one I was sitting in did have a nice clearing at 200 and change which I laid hand corn in. I knew I should have dialed in my dope for the longer shot, but I figured I'd just hold top of shoulder and be in good shape (and I would have been, if only the big daddy had stepped out in that clearing). Where I ended up seeing him was about 90 degrees off to the left and I didn't have time to grab the rangefinder. I looked at the known 200 yard range, compared it to his location and said "yeah, that's pretty close to the same distance". He was just a shade under 300, but I didn't figure that out until ins already made a cloud of limestone dust behind him and scared him into the next county.

200yds Daniel. Or if you have the place, for that gun and load, and only shooting deer sized game, I'd go with it at 250.

I was looking across the field I was hunting a couple days ago and the longest shot was about 275 yards. Most of my hunting is way under 100 but I could stretch it past 300 on some spots at this lease and my other one as well. Should I go with the 200 yard zero or stay with 100?

This is a deer rifle, not a long range gun. Scope is a Swarovski Z3 3-10X42 with the BRH reticle.
No, I use a 100yd zero. Moa dots are for a 100yd zero.

Got my 270 set dead on at 100, all my rifle feeders at the ranch are 100 yards away so I quit using a rifle too easy. I went to using my 44 mag Super Redhawk 240 gn loads with a Ultra red dot, a little more challenging.

I zero my 30-06 2 inches high at 100 yards. That puts me dead on at 300.

With a 200yd zero you'd need to be north of 4000fps to be 2-3" low at 300

2" high at 100 would be closer to dead on at 200. You'll be much lower at 300

Might want to check this on targets

                        Probably not. Check your ballistics.

My dad always zeroed 2.5" high at 100. His thought was from muzzle to about 250 yards could be held dead on and it would be within I think 6-8" of your aim. That was shooting. 22-250, .243, .25-06, .270 and 7mm Remington mag. I haven't hunted deer with a rifle since I started bow hunting in 1983.
