Does everyone use a 200 yard zero?

Using a .30-06 with 165 grain Trophy Bonded Tip, 2800 fps at the muzzle. Do y'all use a 200 yard zero and call it good or a 100 and then do the math when the time comes to stretch it out there? I was looking across the field I was hunting a couple days ago and the longest shot was about 275 yards. Most of my hunting is way under 100 but I could stretch it past 300 on some spots at this lease and my other one as well. Should I go with the 200 yard zero or stay with 100?

This is a deer rifle, not a long range gun. Scope is a Swarovski Z3 3-10X42 with the BRH reticle.

Most of my hunting rifles are set at 1 1\2"-2" high at 100 yrds.

I zero at a hundred, but hunting on the National Forest doesn't give me the long range shots. I haven't shot a deer over 60 yards in twenty years.

I think your plan is good. After zeroing it in a 200, shoot at 50, 100, 300 and see where its at, just for grins.

All my rifles and everyone that hunts on our ranch zero there rifles at 200. My dad does hunt with a 30-06 and his is also zeroed at 200.

I use 50/200 yard zero for the gun I shoot the most. Shoots so flat not really an issue.
          22-250
It would determine to me your average shot distance on the property you most hunt wether I'd choose 100 or 200 yard zero.

              I would go a full 2" to 2.5" high at 100.

You shouldl maintain +/- 4" out to your max of 300 so you will never need to hold high or low.

I cannot tell you the last time I shot at a deer beyond 75-100 yards!
All of my kills in Texas have been at under 100yds and all of my NYS kills have been under 75yds. The 25-06 in Texas in case I need more punch and my 30/30 in NYS does the job.
The 30-06 is a 200 yard zero cartridge. Very flat shooting.
