I have to ask what's with suppressors? Seems like more weight to carry. If I'm in life or death situations, the good ole bark from the AR gets some do no goods attention. Stay away from from this guy he's hunting not hiding.
I don't have an AR, and no way I would carry a 22. Sure the 22 is versatile, but when you need some power and range, it just doesn't have it.
Probably the best I have for that would be my CZ-527 (.223) suppressed. Very light and easy to carry, very accurate. Great as a small hunting round (including deer and pigs) and has enough power for 2-legged if you need it. You can carry plenty of ammo, and honestly it is probably easier to find ammo for it than the 22 RF. I even make some reduced power (Hornet) style loads for it that are very quiet and perfect for small game. It is probably the most adaptable rifle I own. Un-suppressed gets lots of attention, and I don't like attention.
Probably be my CZ527 in .204 or my AR. Really just depends on where i was at when it hit the fan. Urban would be AR out in the country where i can hide and ambush and have longer shots would be the .204
I'd say my LaRue Stealth .223 Wylde with the NightForce NXS 3.5-15. It's suitable for so many purposes and ammunition is common, plentiful and could be acquired by many means. It may not be as light as .22 but you can sure carry a lot of it; and it's more versatile for hunting and WAY better for offense/defense. Add a suppressor and you've got a terrific package.
