    AR Scope Dilemma

I HATE buying things twice. I've been looking at (finally) buying an optic for my AR to shoot pigs. I want a bit of magnification, good glass, and something that doesn't break the wallet. In my recent search, I came across the Vortex Strike Eagle, and it seems to tick all the boxes and more. 1x and illuminated for spot and stalk, and close-in action. 6x and nice reticle for longer shots. I like the brand, and I'm really intrigued by the scope.

Our new lease has lots of pigs and I want to get started. Unfortunately, the Strike Eagle looks like a 2-4 month backorder (I've heard maybe even longer). The most reasonable solution is to buy a more readily-available, comparable scope and be done with it. Another option I'm considering is at least looking for another 30mm scope that I could sell once the Strike Eagle comes available. I could buy the mount once, then either sell or repurpose the other scope and have the one I really want.

In the grand scheme of things, it's a fairly petty dilemma, but I'd love some thoughts on my options, as well as recommendations for good AR scopes/mounts in the $200-400 range.

Not exactly what you're looking for but I bought an old Leupold Mark AR 3-9x and love it.

Ordered my vortex strike eagle back in August from B&H photo because they told me sept 5. Still no scope latest eta was October 15. Must be a good scope. Apparently everyone is buying one...

I've certainly considered putting a good "typical" scope on it, but I like the idea of something designed specifically for the AR platform.

That's my thought, too. My other Vortex products are top-notch. I was really hoping to keep this in the "family."

I ended up with that red-field battle-zone on mine and I can tell you its a great tactical scope and holds zero very well. I dont think you would go wrong on putting it on your ar plus if you change to the 308 it has turrets for it as well

I know it's not fancy, but I have 5 of these on my rifles including my .223 and 6x45 ARs and have been 100% pleased. Can't beat the price. Simmons 6.5-20x50mm for $110.

Just got my Strike Eagle on Friday. Got it mounted last night and hope to get a few rounds through it this weekend. Really impressed with the overall quality so far....

Have to act fast if you find one. Got an email from primary arms stating they were in stock and ordered within minutes. Later that day they were sold out again!

I just threw a primary arms 1-4 on my 300 BO today cause I got tired of waiting for the strike eagle. I plan to use it until they become more readily available. It's decent glass for $120. Mine has some black specks in it but not enough to complain about a lot cause it was so cheap. Good luck on your search for an optic.

THIS SCOPE IS NEW... I looked all over last year and woulda bought this if I had seen it... It is exactly what I need...

now if I buy that 6.8 upper... and then I need another scope for that right?

I'm still waiting on my Strike Eagle, the guys at Guns and Guitars in Georgetown are awesome and they told me by the end of this month is ETA, I got it for $275. Supposed to be a great scope.

Don't get too excited over the strike Eagle. I have one and it's just mediocre at best. I would look more toward the lines of the Leupold Mark AR.
