I HATE buying things twice. I've been looking at (finally) buying an optic for my AR to shoot pigs. I want a bit of magnification, good glass, and something that doesn't break the wallet. In my recent search, I came across the Vortex Strike Eagle, and it seems to tick all the boxes and more. 1x and illuminated for spot and stalk, and close-in action. 6x and nice reticle for longer shots. I like the brand, and I'm really intrigued by the scope.
Our new lease has lots of pigs and I want to get started. Unfortunately, the Strike Eagle looks like a 2-4 month backorder (I've heard maybe even longer). The most reasonable solution is to buy a more readily-available, comparable scope and be done with it. Another option I'm considering is at least looking for another 30mm scope that I could sell once the Strike Eagle comes available. I could buy the mount once, then either sell or repurpose the other scope and have the one I really want.
In the grand scheme of things, it's a fairly petty dilemma, but I'd love some thoughts on my options, as well as recommendations for good AR scopes/mounts in the $200-400 range.
