Its not movie quiet because of the super sonic crack but probably around a 22lr or a little quieter.

What model is your Dads Savage and does it come with threaded barrel?

No secret on the GS i love the .17hmr and would love to have one of these hornets but they are much louder than my 22lr,,and i mean much louder.

Think his is the M25 with the thumbhole stock and no threaded barrel. I don't think any of them come threaded. I had mine threaded by a local gun smith.

I shoot mine with my Spectre II the impact of the bullet is probably louder than the actual shot.
