    FFL Question

OK guys and gals, need some info.

How would a business handle firearms without an FFL??

will be doing hydrodipping and I don't want to get in any hot water because I took possession of a firearm that only a FFL holder should have.

    Thanks in advance!

Does that constitute gunsmithing? If so, I think you need an FFL. There was a thread not too long ago about assembling ARs and that requiring an FFL. You might search for that thread.

Doesn't matter. You are receiving a receiver or other serial numbered item.

You can receive unserialized parts all you want. The problem happens when you receive the parts that have the serial number.

What you want to do is called gunsmithing, doesnt matter if you take them apart or not. If you mess with serialized receivers, you need a FFL.

Have to have an FFL for that.

As others have noted, whether the weapon is assembled or not doesn't matter. It's a question of whether it's a firearm or not. And I think the definition of gun-smithing may be broader. You need to check, but IIRC gun-smithing on even non-serialized parts may require an FFL.

Sounds like I need to look into getting an FFL.
