FWIW, I paid $125 for a trust from Silencer Shop when I bought my cans through them. I figured it's a pretty safe bet, given that tens of thousands of others have used it. Either we're all on a good ship, or there's a lot of us on a bad ship to spread the legal fees around!

There's an ancient Chinese proverb that says "The best time to buy a can was twenty years ago. The next best time is now."

But what I'm asking is the paper file takes longer that the efile system that maybe back up in January May be quicker

I'm using a trust set up that was suggested and used by two Federal LE officers using the same...One is Le for the IRS & the other a Fed GW. It didn't cost me a dime & My class III said it was perfect.

For others, I would suggest spending the $$$ and having peace of mind...if ATF says I have a problem, I'm dragging two high value targets & my class iii down with me.

I have no worries but agree with the others...it has to be solid.

That is not the question you asked (it may have been what was in your head).

Yes, theeeorheticully the eFile system could leapfrog a paper submission. You really wanna sail on that ship though? Just get one, dude. Or don't. But don't let being worried about being the fastest one to get it keep you from claiming your place in line.

Look at it this way: if you paper file now, and someone eFiles (we don't even know if the eFile system will ACTUALLY be back up) in January and beats you, who cares? If you wait 'til Jan, and then file, and you're wrong, you're gonna wish you'd done it earlier.

If you have the money, just do it!

Paper form 4s are coming back in around 4 months right now. The ATF has stated their goal is to get submission turned in 90-120 days regardless of how its filed.

Is anyone able to answer if a "distinct and separate" trust arrangement is necessary for owners of NFA weapons or if it can be combined with a living trust?

These types of questions are the reason you get a real nfa lawyer to set up your trust. Then you just ask them all these questions and you can feel better knowing some coach, air conditioning repairman, or a plumber somewhere didn't give you false information that might make you a felon.

If i were you I'd contact Sean Cody. He set up my trust and is a lawyer that specializes in such laws.
