Let's just say I hate cactus and want things to fall right there.

    Hint: it's a .30 caliber
Being that retumbo is the powder choice of a lot of 300 Remmy shooters. I'm gonna say .300 RUM.

I own one too and love mine.

My experience with bt's was admittedly years ago.
We lost a couple of huge boars and a trophy buck when they failed to penetrate at close range.
But they were very accurate! I demand tight groups from any rifle.
Fusions and fed blue box are accurate and deadly on deer on all our guns.

Silvertips had miserable performance in my 300 wby and NBT's came apart in the kids 7mm TCU. Nothing but bonded bullets in our camp now and my favorite is the Scirrocco!

Getting mixed responses, not what I was expecting.

I'm not a fan of the regular ballistic tips in my 260 Remington at 2800 fps.

I have never had a pass through and I lost 2 deer in one season.

I don't have that issue with Bergers or especially Barnes bullets.

I shoot 100 gr. Partitions at a little over 3300 fps in mine. Nice and flat in the 50-400 yard range that matters most to hunters. Exit hole and a blood trail that a blind man can follow every time. Nosler came out with the 100 grain Partition just for the 260. Good move on their part IMO.

Yep. At the time the 100 grain partitions were not available so I switched to the 125 grain partitions. Night and day difference. Now I shoot either 100 or 120 Barnes TTSX bullets.

What bug me about partititions, is that their BC is comparatively horrible, and when you stretch out to possible ranges for elk ranges, that severely concerns me.

I've shot them in 7-08 and 308. Very accurate in both. At standard velocities I wasn't getting much expansion when shot broadside behind the shoulder. Exit would've size of a quarter. Deer didn't run far though.

I would hazard to guess that more elk have been killed with Partitions than any other single bullet. Maybe the elk can't see that 3" loss at 400 yards.

That's interesting as to how many deer are lost after being shot with ballistic tips. If you didn't find the deer how do you know the bullet failed? Gutshot deer tend to go a long way when pushed. It doesn't matter what bullet you used. I've shot and seen hundreds of deer shot with lots of different bullets. They all died fairly quickly with a shot in the right place. People get exited and make poor shots. Then it's blame the bullet time.
