I love my Millet 1x4. 4X is plenty for out to 150 or so, which is all I would shoot the 223 at critters at anyways. There are 3 gunners using 1x4 scopes to take 3 and 400 yards shots with.
Exactly!!!! A true 1x is awesome for up close and personal with both eyes open...and when you need to reach out there some, you can kick it up to 4 or 6 power!

I honestly wanted another Aimpoint for this gun but also wanted to reach out a little further at times accurately so therefore I opted for a 1-4 or 1-6 and ultimately decided to go with the VX6 1-6x24....

But a true 1x is not for everybody....

      why not just go ahead and get a 3x12 ? 4x16 ? heck, 5x25

there are a lot of advantages to having a true 1X scope.

Im comfortable shooting 200+ yards w/a 4x scope.
I have a 1.5 and a grew up on 2-7's I can shoot both eyes open on 2x just as easy as on my 1.5.

My point is what somebody else said, there are VERY few true 1x scopes, if your buying one that is 1.2 or 1.3 or 1.5(vortex has a 1.5) then you don't get the distortion free view a true 1x has. AND true 1x is gona cost you....

SOOOO if your talking bang for your buck, you need to throw a 2x7 into the mix because it of its value point.

I will shoot a 5.56 at a coyote, or coon, or pig or other varmint a lot farther than 200. So the 7 power is nice over the 4 power. Also I use my scope to watch deer a lot, i'm not a bino fan, and again I like the bost in zoom.

Whoever said that the three gunners all run 1-4's is crazy, A BUNCH are toating 1-6's cause that's their sponsors top end "AR" scope, and lets not even get into the fact that a lot of them carry a precision bolt gun to matches for when they have a stretched out range. My favorite quote from 3 gun Nation in the last year or so was "If you only brought 3 guns today, you are going to lose"

I read it again and don't get your comment bro? I why are you quoting me saying that having any mag on the low end defeats the purpose? the purpose of what? an optic? A lower power optic?

Again like I said before if you don't mind shelling out the dough, I'm all about the 1-6. I want a true 1x but if you are price sensitive, or like me want all you can for your money, throw in a 2-7 into the hat cause it has merit and will probably save you some coin

I mean look at the acogs, they are fixed 6's 4's and 3's and isn't there whole selling point, quick acquisition for more accurate fire? With a little practice you can train yourself to see out of a magnified scope with both eyes open...
