I prefer the Buffalo Bore +P+ ammo, regardless of bullet type. I want all the power I can get for a self defense round, and that one gets up into the .357 range. Check their web site.
I've never used Gold Dot (I certainly never shot anybody with it!), but I know it's popular with law enforcement.

Just curious why? All the speed in the world do you no good of the bullet doesn't perform as needed.
The bullet is what does the damage. I'll take a lower recoil, reliably expanding and deep penetrating bullet any day over one that has more recoil, more muzzle blast and potentially more muzzle flash.
Gold dots and HSTs perform beautifully at "standard" velocities.

On the weekend I slap in a different mag.

I use Gold Dots and Federal HST's in my .40's. My 9mm's really like the Winchester Ranger T ammo (147 grain, not the +P stuff) as well.
I generally "like" Hornady ammo, although it isn't my favorite. But I do have to say that none of my pistols have liked the TAP ammo I've used in them. I got away from it quickly.Last edited by cajuntec; 09-27-2014, 03:45 PM.
