Dates are approximated but based on email verification:

4/18 - Contacted Remington via their website to start the process on mine.
5/3 - Received prepaid shipping label and box provided by
    Remington.
5/6 - Shipped rifle to Remington with prepaid UPS shipping label
    5/27 - received rifle back

I sent it in so that I will have the paperwork to verify that the gun has been submitted for the recall. They face HUGE liability if they do not properly cure the issue and the repaired guns continue to have problems.

That being said, I would personally be more comfortable with an aftermarket trigger that is installed by my own gunsmith.

A finishing nail or the dull side of a drill bit works in a pinch.

Even if you push that pin all the way out its not difficult to get it back in with the spring.

Timney trigger is $100-125 if you're on a budget.

If any body in my neck of the woods needs help I'll install em for free. And even take you to the range so I can see your face when you realize I'm right.

Sorry guys but I have to rant.

I called today to check on my rifle after waiting a month. After being on hold for 45 minutes I pressed the option to have them call me back. After 3 hours, they called me back and said that right now, it will be approximately 3 months before they will have it finished. I told them it was unacceptable and if it was going to be three months, they need to send my rifle back immediately.

Here's where I began to get upset. They said they could send it back but the trigger would need to be removed prior to returning it and I would need to sign a waiver. I told them they are not going to send my rifle back in any condition other than what I sent it to them in. The guy said he couldn't do it, and that it was straight from management. I kept trying to push him for more information and to see if he was reading from an approved response list, and then trying not to yell at home because I know he does not make any of these decisions. I finally asked to get transferred to his manager and he said he would have to take a message.

Needless to say I am waiting on a call back from his manager, I'll keep going up the chain until I get my rifle back in it's original condition. I'll also never buy another Remington, unless they make this right quick and in a hurry.

          Rant over

Special note: Save some grief and either replace the trigger yourself or take it to a gunsmith.

To have them send it back b/c it was once recalled would be a liability... sucks I know ;( Just take it back without the darn trigger and put a jewell trigger on it. You'll never look back once u do that! gluck

if you were smart , request your rifle be sent back ASAP w/out the trigger and replace it yourself with a Timney , Shilen, or Jewell

the factory Xmark Pro trigger is a huge liability. Remington would be foolish to send your rifle back with the defective trigger.

why would you want the original factory trigger which is basically a faulty hand-grenade waiting to go off, and nothing more than a paperweight ?

Remington is willing to fix it for free, yet the backlog / time delay is 3 months .

no brainer for me, but the first thing I do on any rifle is replace with a Jewell

I've had the shipping box for a couple weeks and just am not sure I trust them to get it right. Thank god I haven't had any safety issues in the last couple years we've used this rifle but I'm thinking that for $130 a timney is gonna be a much better investment than waiting 3 months+ for Rem to send it back; especially since my new stock just came in.

I guess my truck gun is getting a facelift and performance upgrade

Because faulty or not, I still paid for it, and though I will replace the trigger, I still have my principals of what customer service is and how a company should take care of their customers. I know that products are not made to last these days in order to promote consumerism but I can still hold them accountable. Also, I'm stubborn.

I can promise you this trigger was not designed to fail in some planned failure/obsolescence scheme to promote consumerism. Obviously Remington would not purposefully set out to make junk that would fail, incur millions of dollars in expense in recall notices, repairs and liability in an effort to have their customers remain loyal to Remington for future purchases.

Remington simply cannot return it with the faulty trigger for reasons stated above. A jury may knock Remington's head off in a product liability case even if the owner doesn't take any action and send the rifle back in for repair and CERTAINLY would if they sent it in for repair and it was returned unrepaired and a subsequent death occurred.

You obviously took this the wrong way.

My point is, I sent my rifle in with a trigger group, it should be returned with a trigger group. In the recall notice, there was no mention of a four plus month wait, otherwise I would have bought a new trigger on the spot and not worried about the recall. It is important to note that initially, the recall seemed well planned and executed, which is why I agreed to it.

So, I sent my rifle in on good faith, with a company I have purchased numerous firearms from, and it is my opinion, and only my opinion, that they have failed appropriately serve a loyal customer.
