Friend bought a new Rem 700 and got the trigger recall in the mail, any good suggestions on what he should replace it with that's better than the stock one?

OP has the "stock" x-mark trigger that has been recalled by Remington
he needs a replacement since factor trigger is junk and dangerous
Timney is good ($125) and ideal for the guy who hunts and shoots his gun 3-4 times a year. Jewell is the Rolls Royce of triggers and priced around ($215)

Remington has always had problems with their triggers and its totally inexcusable on their part. For the last 25 years when I buy a new or used rem 700 they get dropped of at the gunsmith's for a trigger safety check, about six of them have had current issues. I now use Pitchford in Waller TX, he rebuilds them and replaces the springs, 2.5lb pull, cost is $60. If I were shooting targets I'd get a Timney or Jewell, but still have the gunsmith install it.
