    Walmart Manager Know's His Stuff!

During lunch hour I stopped in a Walmart in Cleburne just to pass some time. As I always do, went to sporting goods just to see what they had...AMAZED!

Our super center in Granbury has very little inventory (ammo, accessories, guns, etc.) so I was not expecting much...how wrong I was!

Their ammo selection was something else with multiple selections of different brands, loads, etc. They even had 7mm-08 which I have NEVER seen in any Walmart. Lot's of scopes, conversion kits for shotguns, etc. and even some African game mounts for décor.

I soon found out why after talking to their "hunting" manager. This young man is a marine, obviously loves hunting and definitely knows his stuff. To top it off, I listened to him explain the pro's and con's of several rifles to a lady buying her husband one for Father's Day.

All this AND HE WAS VERY POLITE, FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL!

I Thanked Him for His Service and next time I'm in Cleburne will have to stop in and see what he has added to their inventory....VERY SURPRISED!

Yep, one in a million right there!

I used to work at our Walmart. The Dept Mgr knows her stuff, for the most part, but she's only got one other employee that is any count, helping her. I still get asked if I wanna come back everytime I go back there lol. Uh, no thanks

Man, it would be nice if all Wal-Marts (and Academy stores) had someone like that behind the counter.

I haven't seen much ammo at Granbury since all this stuff started. There is a group of guys that line up at the counter on shipment days to buy the ammo before it hits the shelves. Several of the employees have said that the guys are flipping it. I've given up looking for ammo in Granbury! I have heard that we are getting a Academy when Krogers moves to its new location though. That gives me some hope

I'd like to put a knot on the sales trainer for Academy, her class is a full 3.5 days long and the only thing she teaches them is how to say "I don't know".....

Some of the Academy sales people are pretty good but not very many. I am seeing Walmat stepping up and getting at least one knowledgeable sporting goods person per store.

Edit: One of the Walmart stores in SA had some primers ?????. Sales person said "yea, the manager needed some".

One of the managers in the Hunting & Fishing dept. at the Midland Academy is pretty flamin. If he's not gay he missed a good opportunity. Pretty disappointing when you're looking for something specific like broadheads and he doesn't even know what that is. Glad to hear that walmart knows their stuff.

I have heard the same thing about Academy in Granbury. I do know the gun counter manager at Walmart here and they are planning to expand by possibly taking out the workout machine area? Since I battled this same thing in Lubbock years ago when I had my hunting retail store, this will really put pressure on our local dealers. But, that is competition and at least IMO, service can "sometimes" make a difference over price? We will see!

Heck, might have to take a drive to Cleburn to say hello and buy some "stuff".
