I've haven't shot anything with my Mini-30 yet but I'm pretty sure with some quality ammo you will get the kill you're looking for. Ask our soldiers overseas if they think 7.62x39mm in an ineffective round for taking down a 200lbs man.

This past weekend, I took them out to the range. I was questioning whether or not these things would cycle in my AK due to the 50/50 ratio of reviews I read where some did, and some didn't. I guess I lucked out, cuz they fed perfectly. Not one hiccup. And was decently accurate out to 75 yards with a tactical red dot. Further if I had real optics on it.

That has been my experience also. I can get 3in. Groups at 100 yd. off the bench with a red dot using the Silver Bears. Haven't shot any hogs with it, but I wouldn't hesitate to do so .

Spencer, aren't SST's Hornady's version of ballistic tips?

the sst s have a ring at base that helps them stay togathier . that way the nose of bullet rapadly expands and ring at based holds bullet togathier . look at the gel test on u tube vs russian u have to admitt a good hunting round . see if anyone can find any test on ppu the round looks good maybe a low cost soft point hunting round. the russian hollow points did ok for thier price

                  Yes. Extreme damage on animals.
