Trakker, from my research, there's seem to be a 50-50 split of guys who can't get these to cycle in there AR's. Some do, some don't.

With the right bullet it hits em like a 30/30

Lol. I posted before I even read. The ones I've saw in a bolt action Ruger absolutely dropped deer and hogs out to 150 yards. It was a 125. I believe federal but not sure.

my SKS with both HP and SP ammo has killed 20 or so pigs and the only deer I shot with it ran 20 yds.

I really fail to see why the /39 with a good bullet could not be a great deer and hog round in about same ranges u would use the old 30 30, luv looks of that ppu round

I dont own one but still have ammo in the safe owned an sms when they were $100 to buy...I knocked out a few hogs with it. I plan on buying an am when I find a good deal. It did fine on hogs

I have an AR in 762x39 and use Hornady ballistic tip and at 100-200 yrds they will kill anything it hits no ? asked.

i think the bad rap the /39 gets is more due to cheap crummy ammo and mil sulplus rifled i have no doubt that a good rifle with decent ammo would make a great intermedate range round

Remington makes a soft point corelok 7.62x39. I bought a box just before I lost my lease and wasn't able to test. Look into them. I've hammered everything with Remington corelokts in the past.

Yeah but we wanna stay away from cheap crummy ammo.

7.62x39 is very very close to a 30-30. Better than the 300blk ballistic wise. So if a 30-30 can take it so can a 39. It's my go to deer gun for me and the kids. 3 deer down with the hornady 123gr SST and one with the Tula 154gr. One was 225 with the range finder. But if your hunting deer I would go with a a good bullet like the hornady winchester of fed. Winchester makes a wicked looking personal defense round I'm looking forward to trying. For a reloader you can hot rod it and make a very nice round. Your main limitation is going to be your guns capability. Ruger m77 is about as good as it can get. And for the kids and hog at 5 dollars a box you just can't beat it.
