Sounds like gas issues. Is it stripping the second round off the mag and double feeding? Could also be the plunger opposite of the extractor not pushing on that side of the case to extract properly.

If it is a gas issue you can have someone else shoot it or film it and watch from the side to see if the bolt is coming all the way back.

Here are pictures of my BCG as well as the extractor. Everything to me looks good and there are not rough edges or anything like that. I am not good enough to be able to remove the extractor spring??? I also think that I am running it pretty well lubed, but can I over lube the BCG?

Do the rounds eject fine when you hand cycle? You can check the spring tension with your finger. If the extractor pivots easily away from the bolt face then it is too weak. It should be pretty hard to move with your finger.

Yes there is not issues at all when I hand eject them. It is only when it fires that I am having the issue. I am not sure that I can take off the gas block and look at that without messing things up or breaking something further. This is my 1st AR and I dont want to break anything

Is your gas block the pinned type or is it held on with a set screw? Pretty hard to mess up either. If you aren't comfortable working on it then I would call redx and ask if they will take a look at it. Have you inspected the gas rings on the rear of the bolt?

IMO everything you have stated points back to a gas issue.

Check your bolt carrier group and make sure your gas key isn't loose.

I still think your gas block is out of alignment with your port.

And it very well could be gas issue. One way to tell is to just load 1 round and shoot. Rifle should lock back on the empty mag. If it doesn't then it could be a gas issue. Hopefully it isn't a pinned block. The fact that it has enough gas to pick up the next round tells me its a failure to eject issue, seeing as it is extracting just fine. I would for sure buy different magazines. D&H has not been known to make very good 6.8 magazines. Their first generation 6.8 magazines had fit/feeding issues so hopefully it isn't one of them.

Samson and Mike D thank you both for the help and everyone else! I think that my gas block is held on with set screws and I think that I can get it off to look at it. I will try that tonight. I will also call Red X in the morning to see if their customer service can help me out with the issue as well. I will not be able to test anything out until this weekend and will let you guys know what I can figure out. I will also be looking into different mags to see if perhaps that is the issue as well.

I think I might have bigger issues with this upper. Looks like it is denting the rounds from just hand racking them into the chamber from the mag. Also looks like the nose of the bullets are skipping into the chamber.

I went back and re-read your original post.

So when you fire it, it is extracting the spent round out of the chamber and picking up a fresh round from the magazine but the spent case stays attached to the bolt or at least partially attached and doesn't completely clear the ejection port? Am I understanding that right?

That sounds like multiple problems to me. I still think you have a gas issue causing it to short stroke a little but you may also have a weak ejector spring, an excessively tight extractor spring (or both). Are there any marks or gouges on the case mouth of your fired rounds?

Now as for the dented cases, that points to a mag issue IMO. Does it seem to feed properly if you lock the bolt back and chamber a round by hitting the bolt release?

I don't own a 6.8 so I'm not qualified to speak about what s a good mag and what isn't but I'm sure some others here can chime in on that.
