It will not be cheaper if you buy parts that of the same quality. The good and bad things about ARs being so modular is there are some really good parts and some really bad parts, and most people have no clue about the difference. Can you build one cheaper? Yep. Will the parts be of the same quality? Most likely no.
The problem with building an SBR is the engraving that you have to do in the receiver. It has to be permanently marked with your information. Not a problem if you never sell, but if you do that's a problem. Factory built SBRs are already serialized as an SBR so other than being shorter it looks just a like a non SBR of the same manufacture.
This! I've put off ordering the Noveske due to other endeavors, but that's the route I'm going.
