FYI--from what I've gathered, you aren't held to the caliber you register. As long as you keep an upper in that caliber, you can have as many uppers as you want.

This is correct. As long as you still have the ability to slap back on an upper in the original caliber and length you can throw whatever length upper on it you want. Even rifle length if you'd like.

In any event there aren't that many choices. 10.5 vs 11.5 in 5.56 or 9" (AAC stock upper) vs...I can't remember what Noveske is in the 300blk...

There's a ton of different barrel lengths out there for pretty much any round you can think of. It seems everyone produces them at 1" increments from whatever start point they'd like.. and if you want em shorter have em cut and rethreaded for whatever length you want.

No. Receiver doesn't matter.

Yes you will need to fill in barrel length, caliber that your upper will be and overall length.

On the caliber it has a drop down menu to choose from.

Measure it with a 16" barrel then subtract the difference in the new barrel of choice
