My only gripe is the the clicks should be more distinct

Mine are, but perhaps I just got lucky. I know what you speak of and it is unacceptable to me as well.

No issues with the CDS. Mine works great. Clicks are distinct and the reset has worked flawlessly.

No issues with either of mine, clicks are distinct, though lite. It's a great scope for the $$$.
