Cannon gun safe manual combo dial??????

I bought a used cannon gun safe off of the GS a couple of years ago for a good price.I have had somewhat of a problem opening it since the day I picked it up. I got the hokey dokey put to me I think but HEY that is my fault.I Should have tried it before I handed over the cash.
Anyway now it is getting next to impossible to open. It takes 10-15 tries or more to get it open now days. Cannon will not return a call.
This is a manual dial combo. Anyone here ever experienced this. It's very frustrating.
    Thanks for any help.

I have heard before that the locking mechanism can sometimes get a little out of whack. If I recall correctly, the lock will get so that whatever the last digit of the combination is set at, if you try landing either one number before it should work. If that does not work, try landing on one number after.

Call a good locksmith...I had my lock / combo changed after a used safe purchase.

Call cannon they have a life time war entry. I had mine 2 months and started having trouble mine. I called and they had a locksmith at my house about 2 weeks later with a new lock at no charge. They said it was a common problem

Thanks for the responses guys. Locksmith will more than likely be the route.

I have a friend that contacted Cannon on one he bought. For $100 or so, it could be upgraded to digital if you'd like that route, or I'd second the warranty.

I've seen a lot of reviews of cannon not calling back. I'm in the market and customer service after the sale is important

The lock smith I talked to said that the digitalis were also bad about leaving you stranded. He said he repairs/replaces digitalis all the time.

Hmmm what a man to do?

I had the same problem with my safe. More then likely the locking mechanism going out. Try using +/- one number on the middle number as that is usually the problem. Have a locksmith come out and change it out ASAP. They did mine under warranty at no cost to me. Hope this helps.

It is cheaper to change the lock while you can still open it then to have them drill it to open it. I would also stay with the tumbler style lock. Have not heard anything good about the electronic locks but have good luck with the tumblers.

I have always had good luck with Cannon customer service. I had one that even a locksmith couldn't get into without drilling, and they drop shipped a new safe to my door and picked up the old one. They have a lifetime warrantee. Stay on them, I would'nt pay a thing!

That's impossible the dials never fail. Just ask the experts on here.

I've had two dials fail on my safe. Winchester replaced one in warranty the second one they would not cover.

I had a locksmith come out and install an AMSEC digital keypad and haven't looked back.

Mike, were they a particular brand of dial? I just bought a new safe with a commercial grade LaGard dial. I sure hope I didn't make the wrong decision .

I know all the experts here will disagree! Some one has been spinning the dial. Call a safe tech, and he can reset the tumblers.

If you can get it open, it only takes about 10 mins to change out the lock to a keypad. I boiught a complete take off for $60 on ebay. Tons of videos on you tube on changing them out.
