      Remington 700, significantly more you can do with it long term and as accurate out of the box as another else out there.

        I guess I'm different sometimes. But have you thought about a Thompson Contender platform? One reciever and multiple barrel choices.

          Haven't given much thought to these ideas, but I think I'd prefer a standard bolt rifle

            If going with a .223 ya cant beat the ar15 option. More configuration options and possibilities than you can shake a stick at. You can customize every part of the gun to your liking.
