I'd prefer to stand up for what I chose to believe, being it right, wrong, or indifferent - it's still my opinion. Having a 9mm vs .40 debate is similar to most other things that divide our country - Ford or Chevy, dumbass republican or dumbass democrat, working for a living and paying taxes vs doing nothing and letting someone pay you for sitting on your *** ( and I have to issue helping the truly needy.

I've always enjoyed this forum even though I'm not from Texas (I did come there awhile back and took a dandy Blackbuck). But this is the first incidence I've seen that was rather distasteful towards anyone which surprised me - but maybe it happens often and I just haven't seen it.

So I'm going to get ready to watch the BCS game tonight - I'd tell you who I picked in my pool but I'd probably get slammed for that too.
Easy bud. Loosen the drawers a little. You got testy when someone gave an opinion against yours. All we 9mm sayers were doing was saying don't go by the size if the bullet argument. And you are correct. If you have 13rnds in a mag and you need all 13 you are in a pickle. But we were coming from ccw weapons where you don't have that many. In summer we have to carry thin or atleast my big arse does because it's uncomfortable to try and stick a double stacked gun on my hip. So that's were argument for an extra round comes from.

Well now, let's take a look at the facts........

In response to this post of yours:

"When you go to the gun shop, ask the sales person to open up a box of 9mm and a .40 S&W and then decide which one you want to save your life..."

I think it's a fair assessment to say that your post was indeed uneducated. You provided no factual data or any amount of research to support your opinion. So yes. It was an uneducated post.

Nothing wrong for standing up for what you believe in, but ridiculing others because they don't share the same opinion is rather childish don't ya think? You continued to bash others that backed up their EDUCATED opinions with data and studies. If you're going to debate something at least be somewhat knowledgeable on the subject.

You're not getting "slammed" for having a different opinion. Throughout the entire thread they have been encouraging doing a bit of studying and research rather than just having an opinion based on some dumbass salesman from 2007. You continued to slam others and tell them how wrong they are all because some guy told them to look at two bullets 6 years ago.

Now tell me, which one looks like the dumbass here?

It's ok to have a different opinion (even if you're wrong) but when you repeatedly bash others on a subject that you clearly know nothing about, that's when people tend to get annoyed.

It's none of my business what you carry, really (as multiple articles, even the one you posted, have proved) it doesn't make much difference what you carry as long as you carry something. For me 9mm is the best choice out there for numerous reasons. But really, no matter what round you're carrying, if you can't hit what you're aiming at it doesn't matter what your mag is loaded with. That's why you need to TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN.

But acting like one round is so far advanced above all the others is ridiculous. And shows a complete lack of knowledge.

It's a great site and a lot of great folks. But if you're gonna get into an argument. Please know just a little about what your discussing.

The reason I said what I said is because there are many discussions here and elsewhere regarding the superiority of one handgun caliber over another and there are truly some people who don't know and will take silly statements like that as fact with no factual data to back anything like that up. When in reality statements like that are ignorant and not based in fact. I was merely trying to get the OP to do his own research and choose what best fits his needs.

You just took it personally when in reality the statement would have been directed at the person who made that statement to you.

I'm just glad a guy from a state up north likes, owns, and shoots guns and is vocal about it. I really don't care which one he likes.

I probably will go with the 9mm in all honesty for the comfort factor I have with the caliber. I still would like to be able to shoot both before I purchase though, if for nothing else, to just have an extra chance to shoot As far as "What percentage of Texas CHL holders have used their weapon to shoot someone?" you ask. You do bring up a valid point but whether it is 0% or 100% it only takes 1% or 1 time when "@#$% happens" and it happens to you. Ya know.

Thank you fellow TBHers for all the input and insight I appreciate it all. Keep it going if you have anything else.
