As far as 45 vs 380 goes, I own both. I'll carry the 45 unless my clothing forces me to carry the 380. Both will do the job, but the 45 will do it more better.

A .45ACP would have picked the guy up and thrown him across the room, slammed him into the wall and that probably from just the shot in the leg. The perp probably wouldn't have even gotten off a shot if the homeowner used a gun with real man knocking down power.

I just hate to put a smiley on what (I thought) should be obvious. It kind of takes away from the sarcasm.
