I've got a Crossfire 8x24x50 AO that I am having a similar issue with. At under 75 yards or so, I cannot get the crosshair and target to focus at the same time. At 100 yards or more, it's good(unless I turn the magnification over 18, then everything gets fuzzy) the fun is on a 17HMR and I haven't had the chance to shoot farther than that, but I would like to.

Ok, that's it Monday morning it's going in the mail back to Vortex?

Update: I sent my scope back to vortex roughly 2.5 weeks ago. I received a shipping notice on Jan 2 saying my scope was being returned. I received it today with a invoice saying that couldn't duplicate the issue and would I please accept a brand new duplicate scope in the box for my troubles. Wow, is all I can say. I'm impressed with the customer service before and after the issue. I will take a look tomorrow to see if this scope is legit.

It's a great scope for the money but not a Leupold. The price difference is considerable...There's no way I can buy a 4-16x50mm with a 30mm tube, side focus, Illuminated reticle and target knobs for $699 from Leupold. The prices rises dramatically from there for every little bit of improvement in glass quality.

Good luck and I hope they get it fixed for you.
with the exception of the illumination feature, you can get a leupold for the same money used with the SAME WARRANTY. I havent paid over 800 for a leupold except a mark 4 and all i own are vx3s. all 6.5-20 or 8.5-25. and they will beat a vortex every day.

I had these same issues. Vortex HAS to have the customer service they have because your going to end up using it. If not, they would be out of business. They have a following because they are a sponsor here and they are cheap. Cheap and good optics dont go in the same sentence.

Glad they got it worked out. Let us know how this one does.

Sounds good. Update again if this scope is better.

I spoke with a Rep at Vortex and ended up sending my scope back in. From everything that I hear, I feel confident that they will fix the issue and make it good. I will update when I find out what's going on with mine?

I got my HS LR mounted on my 7mm RM, and was able to shoot it a week ago. It doesn't exhibit the same issues that the OP describes, it focuses at all magnification ranges with a sharp, clear image all the way to the edge, and the reticle maintains sharpness all the way through as well. I did note, however, that the side focus graduations weren't consistent with the actual yardage the scope focused at (read 75yds when it was focused at a 100yd target). I'll check with Vortex customer service to see if that's a known issue that they can correct, but it's not a really big deal to me, as long as the focus works properly.

I'm really hoping this new one they sent lives up to the hype. I decided to try one based upon some really positive feedback from some of my buddies that have higher end optics. I was pretty disappointed however, when mine had a issue. Vortex made it and in a speedy manner though, and with that said, I'm thoroughly pleased

I have had two Crossfires that were good scopes.

I currently have a Viper PST 6-24x50 on my 300 RUM, this scope gave me trouble in the beginning with fuzziness around the edges and eye relief. I was able to cure all of these issues by putting a bag on my stock with a pad under it. Turns out the problem wasn't the scope at all but my head position instead.

Please do so. Mine gets really blurry at higher magnifications.

Was y'all's problems from the start or did they develop over time? I just received my viper hs 4-16x50 in the mail and I'm not seeing any problems yet.
