Mine shoots any of the factory 150gr stuff well...not too good with the 170gr loads or the LeverEvolution 160gr.

Before I sold mine, I was using 150gr Winchester Super X. Tried the leverevolution, and my particular gunbwould not group it for squat.

Craig, that rifle likes Remington 150 gr. and the 170 gr. , the lever evolution did not perform well out of it. I never tried Winchester.

This is what I was using before I started loading my own 150's.

If I am shooting hogs, it is going to be cheap and like mentioned above, in east Texas you don't have many 200 yard shots without a tree in the way.

Same here. I think I paid $50 for one when I was 14 and another $35 for a scope back in 1973. I inherited one when my stepfather died, and it is one of my favorites for the piney woods. I used the Leverevolution ammo on a Javelina at the Chap a couple of years ago at 90 yards and it did a heck of a job on it.

I had been searching for a JM stamped 336 with for a while that was in good condition for my son, and my BIL found one at a gun show last week. I haven't even seen it yet, but for $275, it seemed like a good deal. I just need to get the cheapo scope off of it and put some good glass on it.

Nice. They are all around guns. I have two Marlins and a Mod 94. Hope to pick one up tomorrow. We will see.

In the scares ammo times what ever you can find. The monarch ammo is ok if you want to shoot cheap ammo. Any thing at less than 100 yds Probly won't notice and differnce on hogs and deer. The leverlution ammo is Awsome if you have a scoped rifle and will be shooting over 150 yards. If your not its just not worth the extra money. What ever you do save your brass. I will buy.

I shot my first deer with my Dad's old 336 using Remington Core lokt 170 soft points. That was 20 years ago and I still hunt with that gun occasionally using the same rounds. They have yet to fail me.

Hornady lever. Next choice would be Rem. Corlock 150gr

I've tried a lot of different rounds and weights in mine, since it's my primary rifle for E Texas hunting. The leverevolution disappointed me in that only 1 of 6 shots would hit paper at 100 yds. Of all the rounds I've tried, I feel like I got lucky and the cheapest round holds the tightest groups, about 1-1.5" at 100 yds when clean, and that's the 170 gr winchester super x power point. Like I tell customers all day, every gun is going to shoot each bullet differently so it's your job to try them all.

No, I've been wanting to, but haven't spent the money on them yet. Kind of happy with the consistency I get with the Win's. Was also pretty happy with what it did to the doe I got last year.
