I shoot the 160 gr Leverevolution rounds but since my son has been using my 336 I have been letting him shoot the Remington Managed Recoil round. We had some bad experience with those last year on deer, so I told him that he was going to shoot 170 gr Nosler Partition Federal Premium rounds for hunting, which hit about the same place at 100 yds.
I just got another 336 for him, and so I will sight in mine for the Leverevolution again.Last edited by grizzman; 09-19-2013, 09:08 AM.

I've had several 336 30-30's, they all seemed to like 170gr bullets best in normal factory loads. The LeverEvolution ammo also performed well, but some guns don't like it, and POI is much higher (4 to 8 inches) than with factory ammo. So much higher, in fact, that the factory irons couldn't be adjusted for it (had to scope the guns to use it). Additionally, recoil with LE ammo was noticeably increased. YMMV........

I'd add this input, since I too have a 336 and have used it in both the Panhandle and the Piney Woods...
If you're only planning on using it for deer/hogs out here in the woods, with shots less than 100 yds, I'd check out the normal soft rounded point ammo, Remmy/Win/Fed standard 30-30 ammo. Yes, I've used the LeveRevolution ammo, and while I do like the added umph and its ability to reach out further, I personally don't think it's necessary for our Texas game at typical ranges. It's not worth the added price or recoil (I've noticed it too, although it's not that bad). I personally like to use 150g for deer and 170g for hogs, and there's not too much difference in POI in my rifle between those two grains. Glad you're using the ole tirty tirty...definitely a fun gun to shoot!
