I was bored... Lengths varied from shortest to longest was 1/4". This is all factory new 243 ammo.

hate to tell you tex but you can't measure them the way I think you did. did you measure from headspace zero to the ogive or just end to end. I doubt saami lets the .243 chamber run out .250".

OP, did you measure OAL or do you have a comparator to measure off of ogive? COAL will vary depending on the quality of bulles you have. not 1/16" but you never know.... between that and a loose seater die or crappy seater die i could see it happening
A similar thing happened to me once on a hunting trip. I didn't have a cleaning rod either and noticed my radio antenna on the pickup was about the right size. I Unscrewed the antenna and it fit perfectly saving my weekend.

If there the same bullets and casing measuring oal would be fine. If its different style of bullet like plastic tip vs rn vs Hp measuring ogive would be required. I mean for simplicity if he's not reloading and just checking differences
