This is what I was thinking. I had a couple inconsistent hand loads do this that were supposed to be .002 off the lands. Some were long. This was in a tc encore and it wouldn't chamber them/close.

      this ^^

The way to remove it is a cleaning rod or dowel rod inserted into the muzzle and push it out through the chamber.
Probably a good thing it wasn't fired but it may have been all right too. I would check the rest of the box to make sure the other bullets are seated properly.

        Sorry.

I meant longer. About 1/16" or so.

Shouldn't hurt a thing. May change your point of impact a little.

go to Hobby Lobby , Michaels, Home Depot, Lowes, etc .....

buy a wooden dowel rod smaller in circumference than .243"

insert from muzzle end and tap gently as bullet should fall out

Its a darn good thing you didn't get to squeeze off a round.

The rounds werent made wrong prolly... just seated different... obviously you dont have a longer throat in the chamber... if fired it would have been higher pressure in the rifle and you might have gotten sticky bolt lift. Doubt itd blow up... basically what happened there was the neck on the brass was too loose... the bullet gets chambered and gets pushed into the lands... the bullet is held fairly well then when ejected it pulled it out of the case.... ive had it happen on AR 15s... blow the powder out and carry on... I wouldnt keep useing those rounds though... the will be under higher pressure in that rifle.

Like Blake said. Some also carry brass rods that are great for this or if you get a squib round to drive the bullet back out. I have used a steel rod in a pinch and put a .22 caseing on the end to protect the barrel.

This is hard to do on a tikka unless your hand loading and your coal is out of specs, Tikkas have a tapered area there and that's how they improve their accuracy with factory loads. I have tried to find the seat on several Tikkas and ended up being out of spec, took some reading but finally found some info on it. I believe you have the wrong bullet installed in your case. What manufacturer is it? I'm no expert and would welcome more info on this myself.

ive had the same problem with one of my 243's there was lead in the chamber that kept the rounds from going in from the soft point bullets. no more soft point bullets in any of my guns now.

I was bored... Lengths varied from shortest to longest was 1/4". This is all factory new 243 ammo.
In the same order for both pics.

                                You were very luckey.

Tap out with cleaning rod or better yet wood dowel from muzzle end down.
