Single Shot Rifle... Need Easy Acces to Mo Bullets!!

TC Encore... Short of carrying around a box of ammo what do y'all do to carry extra ammo out into the field?

I dont like the bullets being exposed or allowed to unintentionally slip out while carrying... So I was thinking a pouch either on the sling or on the butt of the rifle... But I don't need a padded cheek rest either.

So what do y'all use? Likes? Dislikes?

Elastic sleeve that slides over the butt that holds (6-8) rounds of ammo, is what I've always used.

The elastic sleeve is a no go for me... I've had a couple, and always lost rounds walking between point A and Point B... Need something more secure. Pouch on the sling is sounding great in my head right now.

            I've never lost any ammo.
I try and find the sleeves that look like they're made for smaller rounds and it seems to hold the bullets a little snugger.

I always carry a backpack and keep a box of ammo in there as well.

I use the elastic sleeve and just move it from gun to gun (because it fits every caliber)(except the 12ga.)
I never have more than 2, maybe 3 shells in it.

What caliber? The elastic sleeves only work on big casings. I've got a butler creek sling on a .223 that holds 4. I've had that thing for 10 years and its the best sling I own

I had this issue at first too.... just don't leave the shells in them stored for a long time because they loose elasticity.

Well they don't make it anymore. They have one that holds 6 but its not the comfort stretch like I have

The ones I lost where 6mm...

The ones I currently need to hold are going to be 204, 223, 300 blk.... Not big by any means. I like my butler creek slings too but don't keep ammo in the loops... I prefer ammo to be more out of the elements than that. Which is what led me to covered pouch.

I too carry a back pack... But that's not readily available ammo.

I'm liking the pouches on the cheek pads, but think the material of cheek pad would get hot and sweaty as I shot... So that's leading me toward the pouch on the rifle sling... Just haven't found anything I liked yet... Which is why I turned to you guys!!!

Cloth ammo wallet with the elastic loops inside. They make them to slide onto a belt, but I never do. I load it up and either stuff it into my pocket or throw it into a zippered pouch in a light pack.
                        All the best,
                        Glenn

Mine must be antiquated since they held 204 to 45-70. I think there are 10 loops total.
Haven't bought one in a few years.
With the shotgun, I just carry the extras in my left pocket (usually a hoodie type jacket).

I have an ammo wallet that goes on the belt. My son has the stock pack from Midway on his rifle. I did the relaoding work up in the summer heat/afternoons, and the padding didn't make me sweat anymore than the heat. In fact, it has a zipper pouch on the side if you don't trust the loops. It held his 243 rounds just fine

What about an ammo pouch on your belt? Get rid of the stinking single shot .
