colt licensed the 6900 to be built by someone else, it has already been hashed out here and all over the interweb.

Colt Competition also sells "race guns" licensed by colt.

all other current models of colt are made by Colt defense.

And to add to the above, Colt Defense has two locations, Hartford Connecticut and plant in Canada.

Only the 6900 model was farmed out. The rest of the Colt's Defense guns are built in house.

OP, get the 6920 from Walmart. If you decide to swap to a free float you can sell the Magpul handguard to recoup a bit of the cost.

But as MikeD stated you can add rail sections to the Magpul MOE handguard to add a vertical grip or light if you want.

There is no other 1k AR I would buy over the Colt 6920.
