    Colt 6920MPE questions

I've been thinking about buying one of these from WalMart now that they are back in stock and at normal prices, but I have a few questions.

Is this a reasonable quality/price for an "out the door" AR?

Does the front sight interfere when looking through a scope?

Are there better options in this price range?

What are walmarts prices? I haven't even looked..

There are a lot of good quality ARs out there in the $700 (give or take) out the door range

The front sight post shouldn't be visible when looking thru a scope. A red dot/holographic is a different story

      I think it was $1067+tax.

I'm looking for a "middle of the road" priced AR. I don't want one of the cheap $5-600 guns, but don't want to spend $1500+ on one either.

I would more than likely mount a Leupold VX1 3x9x40 scope on it.
The non-removable front sight is the reason I didn't buy it because I didn't know if it would interfere with the scope picture.

Colt makes a good rifle. I'd also look at the s&w m&p 15. I've got one and I've got no complaints with it. There really are a lot of good rifles in $1k range.

                listen to Mike D,
                buy the Colt.

for quality, the only options you should consider in that price range is Colt, BCM and LMT.

IF you're only interested in whipping that puppy out and chasing your Liberal sister-in-law around the house at Thanksgiving while she screams in terror, than you should go for one of the $600 ARs

I admit, I laughed. I can picture someone doing that.

                      Ok, another question:
Can the front handguard be removed to install a quad rail or even just a siderail?

If I remember this is the Magpul MOE edition and you can buy rail sections and attach to the hand guard.

Or yes you can change it out completely to a quad rail setup.

                          Not to hi jack thread....BUT.
Is Colt even making their own rifles anymore? Or is it a contractor that licensed out the Colt name?
                          My apologies OP.

So who is building them? Do you have a link to where you got that information? Just curious as I would like to read it.
