i tried 4 different models of their scopes. crossfire (went on a cheap plinking gun sold both) viper, vipser pst, and the razor. razor seems to be nice but is the only one i have yet to use out in the field. going on my brothers custom build and wont have it back for a couple months. the rest i was seriously less than impressed with compared to what can be had for the same or very little more money

I gotta ask... Then why do you keep buying them?? Wishful thinking?

Vortex makes over 10 different models of binos. You didn't indicate which one you purchased. Regardless, it sounds like you got a lemon. Vortex binos have an excellent reputation amongst hunters and birdwatchers alike and are consistently rated near the top of the list in independent reviews when compared to other binoculars in the same price range. Binos are where Vortex got their start, and they do them exceptionally well. I would not be surprised if their rangefinder has room for improvement. They offer one model and it's their first attempt at it. I would pass on it for that reason.

My Viper 2-7x32 has been hunted hard. First in east Texas thicket on my 30-06 then in south Texas mesquite on my 375 Ruger. It's been rained on, banged around, and keeps right on zero.

They were the diamondback 10x. Crappy/very picky focus knob, bad eye strain, poor vis at dusk & dawn. The whole nine yards... Took them back to SWFA and the guy their said he had heard the same complaints. That he would go with Zen Ray over vortex.

I've got a 4-12x40 Vari-X II on my 300 Wby and it does great. Not as new or hi-tech as a lot of scopes these days, but I have total confidence in it.
X2 on the Zeiss I run a 4.5-14x50 on my 25-06 so the 4.5-14x44 would be my choice
