Big can of Ammo at Academy

Stopped by Academy in Arlington this afternoon and they had this drum of 5.56 for sale. Comes out to .51cents a round. Somebody will buy it I bet.

Yep. I like my .223 / 556 closer to 30 cents per round.

And closer to a weight I could carry in my hand, or at the very most, a backpack ;-)

Don't have a .223, but I saw Tula ammo at WalMart this week for $5.97/20 or $0.30/rd. The drum is not a good deal.

I think I saw Tuffbroadhead with one of those attached to the mag well of his M4. =)

Lol I agree this isn't a "great" deal, but steel cased tulammo isn't the same as lake city brass. Midway sells this ammo (when in stock) for about the same price though. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/789...14-boxes-of-30

Holy smokes! That's a lot of ammo.

I remember before the great ammo drought I could pick up several cans of that xm855 for $149/per can at the Pleasanton Walmart. Those were the good ole days.

It may be better brass than Tula but if you plan to reload, do you need 12,500 rounds?

If I had the money to buy that much ammo I'd have the money to buy a WHOLE bunch on tannerite and invite some friends over for an explosive evening

Seems awfully high for that much volumne. Brass and 20 round boxes is cheaper than that!

Lol well you would save tons of time by not having to clean your gun so much and then you could sell all the brass and recoup about half your cost as today's prices (kidding by the way, if you've got the dough to spend that much on ammo at one time, I don't think you would be too worried about relative costs)
