Well I'm going to pick one up from the Fort Worth gun show, so it might be a used one but I'm looking to spend around 1200-1500.

Colt 6920.

Optics are just too much of a personal thing but 14X is the highest magnification I would personally recommend.

Stick with quality brands like Leupold, Nikon, Zeiss Conquest. Avoid the Chinese knock offs like the plague.

Use the Burris PEPR for your mount.

for Hogs, I would recommend the 6.8
buy a complete AR, don't piece one together, you can over accessorize it later.

Pre-rush, possible savings. Post rush too hard to find the pieces needed and too many want to make money on the deal. Resale value is greater complete brand name than the frankenstein too. It may get better when the stupid wears off. JMHO. I didn't find it advantagous to frankstein one and I bought pre-rush.
