    Hunting with Silencer

Was reading an article in Texas Trophy Hunters magazine called "The Silent Hunt" by Meilssa Debord. It was about how suppressors are now allowed in Texas for whitetail hunts. What are yalls thoughts? Pros & Cons?

no cons other than being expensive and long wait time / background check to receive the suppressor!!

My son killed a coyote and my wife killed a doe on our lease last year using a suppressed firearm. I failed to see any con to it at all.

Now like Artos said, the expense and process of getting a suppressor is a problem for some folks.

If you want one to hunt with next year, you need to be buying right now.

Just search that on the search function hear and you will find the majority support it while a few worried about poachers are not going to.

Like others have said the expense and wait time are the only down side I can see. I'm still waiting on my first

Don't see that would much difference other than cost on whitetail for an honest hunter that would typically only shoot one. For song dogs and hogs it would be fun if it gives you multiple shot opportunities to thin them out of your area

The only con I see is the added barrel lenght if you're in a box blind.

Otherwise it's game on and saving your hearing at the same time.

That's why you get one of these. VERY handy in the blind. Both critter mentioned above were killed with it.

What kind of expense are we talking about? Low to mid 100's?

Silencers and crossbows are destroying hunting! Poachers have it too easy now!

Oh and back on topic, I have a strict must use silencer policy on our ranch!

What I am tracking is you have the cost of the suppressor but before it is legal you have to apply for a "stamp", and that is $200. Same goes for a short barrel rifle, $200 "stamp"
